Why a Bundaberg specialist

Three things every Bundaberg patio has to get right.

Region C cyclonic wind.

Bundaberg is in Wind Region C under AS 1170.2, the same cyclonic band as the rest of the Wide Bay coast. That changes everything about a patio: the bracket gauge, the post size, the purlin spacing, the tie-down and the footing all step up from the inland kit you see advertised cheaper online. A patio speced for an N2 inland site will be knocked back by the certifier and, worse, can lift in a strong blow. We size every job to its assessed AS 4055 wind classification, typically N3 to C2 around Avoca and Kepnock, up to C3 on exposed Branyan or Moore Park Beach blocks.

Council approval and certified engineering.

Almost every attached patio in Bundaberg is a Class 10a structure that needs a building approval through a private building certifier, with Form 15 and Form 16 engineering. We handle the lot: soil and wind assessment, footing design, the certifier lodgement and the final inspection. You get a structure that is legal, insurable and signed off, not a backyard job that surfaces as a problem when you sell.

Reactive soils and coastal corrosion.

Bundaberg’s heavy red volcanic soils and the alluvial flats near the Burnett River move with the wet season, so footing depth and pad size matter. On the coast at Bargara and Innes Park, salt air eats unprotected steel. We default to hot-dip galvanised brackets, suitable Colorbond grades and adequate footings rather than the minimum that just scrapes through, so the patio is still sound in fifteen years.
